About Tentpole
A reel of real movie posters spins like a slot machine and stops on one film.
You take one thing off it — one of its genres, its rating, its director, or
one of its actors — and drop that into your own movie.
Eight slots: two genres, a rating, a director, four cast spots. Fill them all
and a studio scores what you assembled — projected box office, critic score,
and a verdict — then prints you a one-sheet for it.
**You don't get to choose what comes up.** Every landing is "take the mediocre
thing I can use, or burn a reshoot hoping for the thing I need." Billing is
enforced in both directions: an actor who's never been top-billed can't lead
your picture, and a star won't take fourth. You get three reshoots. That's the
whole economy.
**The scoring isn't a model.** It's a deterministic engine built over ~2,600
real films — grosses, ratings, awards, who has actually worked with whom, what
genres each person actually lives in. The same package always scores the same,
so it's learnable. It knows Adam Sandler and Kevin James have been in seven
movies together. It knows a director who's out of their depth drags the whole
picture down.
On AI: the numbers are not AI — no model touches the score. The movie's
title and write-up on the finished sheet are generated. Every sheet carries a
notice saying the film isn't real, and no quote is attributed to a real critic
or publication. A switch on the page called **Score only mode** turns the
writing off and leaves just the box office, the critic score and the verdict.
